Ġarra

“ il-ġarra ġejja u sejra fl-aħħar tinkiser. ”

A jug repeatedly carried to and fro will eventually break.

Inspired by the Maltese proverb, the works are a comment on the current political landscape in Malta with the integrity of members of the Government being questioned after several members were implicated in a number of corruption and money laundering incidents.

The proverb is used as a warning message explaining how continuous risky behaviour will eventually end in disaster, and is commonly used in relation to habitually deceitful people.

Installation, Digital Projection
An animation depicts a crack slowly spreading across the surface. The cracks are used to show how the strain is starting to show as the jug gets weaker with every crack. The three variations show a progression as the object visibly deteriorates over time.

This project relates to Fl-aħħar.
