Fl-aħħar

In the end
Sculpture, Installation

Inspired by the Maltese proverb, the works are a comment on the current political landscape in Malta with the integrity of members of the Government being questioned after several members were implicated in a number of corruption and money laundering incidents.
The proverb is used as a warning message explaining how continuous risky behaviour will eventually end in disaster, and is commonly used in relation to habitually deceitful people.

“Il-ġarra ġejja u sejra,
fl-aħħar tinkiser.”

The jugs, made of glass wax, are a visual representation of the proverb, imperfect with jagged edges and visible cracks lining the exterior. A series of jugs were created showing the stages of deterioration; starting from a number of small cracks, getting more cracked until broken into pieces and are beyond repair.

This project relates to Ġarra.
